Therapy in the language of your home, at your own pace

Warmth is the counseling practice of Lupe Chaparro in Avondale, for women and mothers who want to talk about what they carry in Spanish, in English or in both at once.

Services

Two ways to come in

Both are for adult women. We meet in person in Avondale or by video, from anywhere in Arizona.

  • A woman sitting on a sofa holding a cup of tea in both hands

    Individual therapy

A space of your own to talk about what weighs on you, what you want to change or nothing in particular. Sessions are 50 minutes.

    Therapy for mothers

For mothers of babies, teenagers or grown children. The session is just for you, with no children in the room.

Who it is for

Who comes to Warmth

Better to know from the start, so you do not lose time.

  • Adult women

Who want to talk in Spanish, in English or in both, without translating every sentence.

  • Mothers

Of small children, teenagers or grown children. The session is for you.

  • Women who care for others

Daughters who care for their parents, grandmothers raising grandchildren, women who hold a whole family up.

  • If you need something else

Children, teenagers, couples, medication or a crisis: we give you colleagues' names or the help numbers.

Your therapist

Lupe Chaparro, professional counselor

Lupe speaks Spanish and English with equal ease, and she does not ask you to translate what you feel. In the first session she listens, explains how she works and what the limits of confidentiality are, and lets you set the pace.

How it works

How it starts

  • 01

    Write or call us

Tell us which day and time suit you, and whether you prefer Spanish, English or both. Nothing more.

  • 02

A short call, if you want one

It is 15 minutes to see whether we fit. That call is not therapy or an evaluation.

  • 03

    The first session

It lasts 60 minutes. If you pay yourself, you first receive a written Good Faith Estimate.

Your first session

Your language, your pace

At Warmth there is no script and no hurry. You choose which language you speak in and how much you share, and Lupe adjusts.

  • You choose the language

Spanish, English or both in the same sentence. Here you do not have to find the exact word.

  • You set the pace

Some sessions are full of talk and some are quiet. Nobody hurries you.

  • Your home counts too

What your family expects of you and what you expect of yourself: all of it can be talked about.

How fees work

The answers to what almost everyone asks before starting. Your fee is given to you in writing before you begin.

  • Insurance we work with

Warmth is not in network with any insurance plan: you pay for each session yourself. We do not take Medicare or AHCCCS, Arizona's Medicaid. If you are looking for someone who bills your plan, we are glad to give you colleagues' names.

    • Out of network with insurance plans

    • No Medicare or Medicaid

  • If you pay yourself

You pay at the end of each session, by card, including HSA and FSA cards. There is no contract and nothing to pay in advance. The fee depends on the kind of session and its length: 60 minutes for the first and 50 for the rest. Your fee is given in writing before your first session. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one. We ask for 24 hours' notice to change or cancel an appointment.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

Each month we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) with the dates and the type of session, so you can send it to your plan, which may reimburse part of the cost. It carries a diagnosis code that your insurer can see. Your plan decides whether it reimburses anything; ask it before you start.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care will cost before you begin. We give you one before your first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

We do not check benefits, because we do not bill your plan. If you want to know whether your plan reimburses, call it before the first session and ask about out-of-network mental health services.

Questions

What almost everyone asks

Do you take my insurance?

We are not in network with any plan: you pay for each session yourself, and we give you an itemized receipt in case your plan reimburses. We do not take Medicare or AHCCCS.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care will cost before you begin. We give you one before your first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 60 minutes. Lupe explains how she works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and she listens. You choose the language. At the end, the two of you decide whether to continue.

Are you licensed where I live?

Lupe's license is from Arizona. By video she sees people who are in Arizona during the session. If you are in another state, we help you look for someone licensed there.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site and our messages are not monitored around the clock.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if there is a serious risk that someone will be hurt or will hurt someone else, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, Lupe may have to report it. She explains this in writing before you begin.
