Individual therapy

A space just for you, in your language

For adult women who carry a lot: work, the house, the family here and the family back home, or the tiredness of being the one who holds everyone up.

The session is a conversation with Lupe, who speaks Spanish and English and lets you decide which to use and when to switch between them.

What to expect

What it is like, in six points

  • What sessions are like

They last 50 minutes, in person in Avondale or by video. You talk; Lupe listens, asks and suggests, with no rush.

  • The method

Guided conversation, with attention to family and to both cultures. Lupe explains how she works and where she trained, and you decide whether it suits you.

  • What it is not

It is not an evaluation for a legal or official process, nor an emergency service, nor a place for prescriptions.

  • Length and frequency

Lupe sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions.

  • The risks

Talking about hard things can be uncomfortable at first. Lupe explains the possible risks and benefits before you begin.

  • How it is paid

You pay yourself at the end of each session, with a written estimate before you begin. It is explained on the fees page.

Three questions about this service

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 60 minutes. Lupe explains how she works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and she listens. You choose the language. At the end, the two of you decide whether to continue.

How often and how long?

Lupe sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions: it depends on what you want to work on and how you feel. Each session lasts 50 minutes.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if there is a serious risk that someone will be hurt or will hurt someone else, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, Lupe may have to report it. She explains this in writing before you begin.
