Therapy for mothers

A while that is only yours

For mothers of babies, teenagers or children who now live their own lives. Here nobody asks you to be everyone's mom: the session is for you.

You talk about whatever you bring: the family you care for, what you expect of yourself and what others expect of you. You do not need to bring anyone, and children do not come into the session.

What to expect

What it is like, in six points

  • What sessions are like

They last 50 minutes, in person in Avondale or by video, at a time that fits school and work. If needed, the time can change with 24 hours' notice.

  • The method

Guided conversation, with no required homework. Lupe explains how she works and where she trained, and you decide whether it suits you.

  • What it is not

It is not therapy for children or teenagers: Lupe sees adults only, and gives you colleagues' names if you are looking. Nor is it an evaluation or an emergency service.

  • Length and frequency

Lupe sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions.

  • The risks

Talking about family can bring up hard feelings. Lupe explains the possible risks and benefits before you begin.

  • How it is paid

You pay yourself at the end of each session, with a written estimate before you begin. It is explained on the fees page.

Three questions about this service

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 60 minutes. Lupe explains how she works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and she listens. You choose the language. At the end, the two of you decide whether to continue.

Do you see my teenage daughter?

No: Lupe sees adults only. If you are looking for someone for a minor, we give you colleagues' names.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice to change or cancel an appointment. With less notice, the session fee may be charged; we explain this in writing before you start.
